After School Program

CPAH’s After School Homework Club

The After School Homework Club, held at the Greenburg Oaks, Oleson Woods and Spencer House apartment communities, is a welcoming place for children to participate in homework mentoring and enrichment activities such as crafts, games and gardening.

Open to children in Kindergarten through 8th grades, the After School Homework Club serves resident youth four days a week. Also provided are on-site guest presenters or local field trips.

CPAH is lucky to have student volunteers from local high schools, PSU, PCC, Lewis and Clark, and George Fox University, as well as other community volunteers. Volunteers work one-on-one with the kids to give them that extra help they might need to help them succeed. It is a great experience for both the youth and volunteers.

Summer Youth Camps

CPAH’s Summer Youth Camps Program offers children residing at CPAH properties the opportunity to participate in educational and recreational activities at no cost to families. High-quality programming has been shown to decrease “summer slide” and improve school readiness and school performance.

Youth take part in a variety of enrichment activities such as cooking, crafts, gardening, sports, games, and environmental education over four weeks at two CPAH properties. Thanks to our partnership with the Beaverton and Tigard School Districts, the kids also take part in the summer lunch program.

In addition to the many on-site activities, participants in the Summer Youth Camps are able to take part in field trips. Past outings have included canoe/kayak trips on the Tualatin River, and trips to the Oregon Coast, OMSI, the Oregon Zoo, The Broadway Rose Theatre Company, and Portland Children’s Museum. The Summer Youth Program aims to expose children to cultural, scientific and educational opportunities they may otherwise miss, while encouraging an active, healthy lifestyle.

Additional Youth Support

With the help of our community partners who donate and volunteer, CPAH provides new backpacks and school supplies, warm coats, and additional support to CPAH kids.

Backpacks and School Supplies
Each year, with the help of our partners in the community who donate and volunteer, CPAH provides new backpacks and grade-appropriate school supplies to more than 170 resident children. Kids from kindergarten through 12th grade are able to start the school year prepared by having the supplies they need to be successful.

Operation Warm
Thanks to very generous donations from the Tigard Rotary Club we are able to provide warm, new, winter coats to kids ages 3-16. These coats are for kids who are full-time residents of Greenburg Oaks, Village at Washington Square, Oleson Woods, Metzger Park, and Fircrest Manor.

Family Yoga
Family Yoga is a newer service we began offering in 2019 at the request of residents at Greenburg Oaks.  Families have enjoyed coming together to stretch and feel renewed!
